Classes

3 – 5yr DancePlay (ballet) & Mini Groovers (jazz)

These classes are delivered using imagery to engage the imagination while developing gross motor skills such as skipping, jumping and galloping and encouraging freedom of expression as well as learning the building blocks for future dance training.

We have developed a special 30 minute program especially for 3-5 year olds, to introduce them to the joys of moving to music in a controlled environment. Children this age want to explore dance through games, they love to copy, and sometimes just want to ‘do their own thing’.

Classical Ballet

An essential component of all dance training, Classical ballet is a disciplined art form that places great emphasis on the method and execution of movement. Classical ballet gives students an awareness of posture and musicality and requires the development of self discipline. Focus, commitment and concentration skills are an important part of students’ learning.

Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)

We train our classical ballet students under the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. The RAD is the largest classical ballet examining body in the world and maintains quality training standards across the globe.

We offer RAD Grade examinations for ballet students from 6 years through to Vocational levels.

Contemporary Dance

Contemporary dance has strong classical foundations without the rigidity of ballet class. In contemporary, more emphasis is placed on ease of movement, fluidity and energy.

Contemporary Dance deals with concepts of fall and recovery, contraction and release, rebound, suspension, momentum, flow and weight placement. Dancers will learn contemporary based technique and dance choreographed pieces.

The freedom of movement encouraged by contemporary dance technique means that is it accessible for beginners as well as allowing experienced dancers to explore new expressions of body movement.

Jazz

Jazz covers a wide range of dance styles from that seen in musicals to modern contemporary and hip-hop interpretations.  It is a fun, fast-moving class with a technical focus that incorporates body isolations, develops strength and flexibility, encourages co-ordination, rhythm, musicality and individual expression.  The dancers learn funky age appropriate routines and enjoy a fun dance class with their friends.
